Shinty and fighting at fairs.
The contributor can remember shinty being played in Uist. It was played on the machair, at certain times of the year. This stopped long ago.
There was fighting at fairs. There were tents selling drink at these. The contributor didn't personally see this happening, as drink was banned by the time he started going to fairs.
