Summary
A carpenter puts his thumb in a hole on the MacDonald's boat to keep the water out.
The MacDonalds were going to Ireland when the boat developed a leak. The carpenter who built the boat was on board. He put his thumb in the hole to keep out the water. His son was given the name Mac an t-Saoir [the carpenter's son]. Gille Padra Dubh was descended from that family. The carpenter is buried in Ardvaser in Skye.
