Summary

A Loch Hourn fishing anecdote.

Loch Hourn was famous for herring. The contributor's great-uncle Solomon MacDonell was fishing with the contributor's father. Solomon wore a Balmoral hat at the fishing and everywhere else. One night they caught so many fish they couldn't haul the nets. Another boat hauled two nets for them. When this happened, the other boat would keep the fish and return the nets. They didn't know who had hauled the nets, but the captain of the other boat recognised Solomon's Balmoral and returned them. There were around 400 boats and 1,000 fishermen in the loch at the time, but nobody else was wearing a Balmoral.
