Summary

A story about a girl who loved her father as much as she loved salt.

The contributor heard this story from Ailig Mòr. A well-to-do man had three daughters. He asked them how much they loved him. The two elder girls they loved him more than anyone. The youngest said she loved him as much as she loved salt. He was so unhappy with this response that he sent her away. She was going to marry a laird and she invited her father and sisters to the wedding, without revealing who she was. She ordered that no salt be used in the wedding feast. The guests complained about how bad the food tasted. The girl's father realised how much his daughter loved him and they were reconciled. He left her all his possessions.
