Summary
In the first section of this waulking song, a woman praises the man she loves. He is a chief or landowner who rides a well-shod horse. She describes him as being fair to his tenants. She prays he will have a long life.
In the second section, the composer regrets not being in her own district. There, her food and drink would be of a much higher standard than the spring water and miserable pancake she gets at present.
