Summary
Cutting peats when the contributor was young.
When the contributor was younger, herself and her father cut peats on Vacsay. They worked from morning till night and slept there. Others spent only a day cutting peats as they had a crew. There would be seven or eight men cutting and two women preparing the food. When the women had completed their work, they went to look for seagulls' eggs to bring home to the children. Peats were transported on a boat that was known as a 'pearrdse', similar to a barge.
