Summary
Flax grown in Colonsay.
Linen cloth used for the Communion table was made in Colonsay from flax grown on the island. The cloth is now [1953] 152 years old and still in good condition. Every croft had a patch of flax, and the linen made lasted for years. The contributor says all the islands grew flax and made linen.
