Composed by Roderick Morrison (An Clàrsair Dall c. 1646-1713), as a warning to Roderick, son of Iain Breac MacLeod of Dunvegan who had been a great patron of musicians and poets, not to let his traditional inheritance die out. Only three verses sung of this much longer song.
