There used to be three churches in Balfron, and relationships between Protestants and Catholics are and were very good.
There used to be a United Free Church in Balfron as well as the parish church and the Catholic church, but the UF church is now [1982] the church hall. Relationships between Protestants and Catholics have always been good. The priest or the minister would take a funeral service, and both would attend all village functions. The Catholic children went to the same school as all the other children.
