Summary

George Buchanan and the hats.

The gentry used to wear tall splendid hats, but George Buchanan had an old tattered one. At one time, it was customary for the gentry to leave pretty flowers under their hats to please the ladies. On a particular occasion, George left a stool under his hat, much to the disgust of the Queen when she discovered it. It was decided that the women would stone George to death, but through a cunning ploy he managed to escape death.

At the end of the story, the contributor admits that he went awry in the telling of it.
