Summary

In this song, a woman says that she will get plenty of milk from Colin's cattle. There are also two verses from another song in which a father is singing a baby a lullaby and mourning his wife who is in the grave.

The contributor recalls how the cows would be gathered together to be milked in the morning and in the evening. They would be let out by the herd in the morning. The herd would be paid by the township and he would watch all of the cows. He would earn three pounds for his six-month appointment (from May to October), and would also get a barrel of potatoes from every crofter.
