Summary - Weddings and cèilidhs in Jura.
At one time weddings in Jura were held in barns. Everyone brought a chicken for the dinner. Pipers and melodeon players provided the music for dancing. The contributor himself played the melodeon at weddings and cèilidhs. He used to play the pipes but has not taken them up for a long time. There was scarcely a tune he played that his father did not have an accompanying Gaelic song. His father bought a book of Gaelic songs when he was working as a shepherd and he learnt many songs from it.
