Summary - Shipwreck on Colonsay in 1848, where local fishermen saved many of the crew.
In 1848 the 'Clydesdale' left Charlestown in America for Glasgow, but during a storm the ship was driven on to the rocks at Colonsay. The Colonsay fishing boats saved all the men who had managed to get on to the rocks but some had been drowned and are buried in the local graveyard.
