Summary
How the Mingulay people fished for ling.
Fishermen from Mingulay would fish for ling around Berneray. They would sell the fish to a curer in Castlebay who would salt and cure it. Before then, the fishermen would prepare the fish and take it to Glasgow themselves in their boats. They would spend around three weeks away, and would buy supplies to take back. They would go at any time of the year.
