Summary
A fish seller was caught in charge of his horse and cart while under the influence of alcohol.
Torquil MacRae tells how fish is not as plentiful in the shops as it used to be at one time. He says that the worst thing about salt mackerel is that it makes you thirsty, and he tells the story about the fish seller who was caught in charge of his horse and cart while under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to court but got off with the charge as he said that it was a mare that he was in charge of at the time and not a horse.
