The contributor has heard of the following beings: the 'glaistig' and the mermaid. He has never heard of the 'gruagach' or the brownie. It was said that seals were the children of a southern king. Swans were not killed. Unfortunate situations would sometimes be greeted with the following: "Chac a' chuthag orm!" [The cuckoo defecated on me].
