Summary - A murder over a girl and the ghostly horse that haunts the field.
Two men, who were rivals for a girl, were threshing corn near Stromness when one man struck the other on the head with his flail and killed him. He covered the body with straw and that night took the body to the craigs [cliffs] on a horse. The horse knocked part of a dyke down on the way. Traditionally, that dyke will not stay standing, however many times it is rebuilt. There is also supposed to be a ghostly horse in the field.
