Summary
Boats were driven onto rocks in South Uist.
A boat full of grain went aground. The contributor's father, along with others, went to help. As they were returning, the weather became very bad and it was snowing. They stopped at a shepherd's house but he would not let them in. They went to the house of another shepherd, where they were given food and shelter. The crew of the boat were all saved. Another time, a Norwegian boat went on the rocks. Two survivors made it ashore. They were found by some people, Douglases, who did not help them, and they died.
