It is bad luck to meet certain people. Neil MacVicar says that it is a bad thing to meet a woman if you are out to attend to some business, as the business will not go as it should. This has often happened to him.
Donald MacVicar describes what happened to him in Tarbert Loch Fyne. He was whistling and some people told him to stop, as the fishermen believed whistling would bring down a storm. Fishermen do not like to have a bald person in a boat, as this brings bad luck.
