Summary

In the opening lines of this waulking song, as sung here, a girl tells how her lover has passed by on horseback, ignoring her completely. The lines which follow are in praise of Clan Donald, whose swords will remain sheathed until King James is crowned. The final section of the song contains lines in which a girl tells how she had to stand before the Kirk session, presumably because she was pregnant and unmarried.

Item Notes

Other versions say that Clan Donald's swords will not be sheathed until King James is crowned.
