Summary

Conversation about the stage musical and film, Brigadoon.

Norman MacDonald speaks about Brigadoon. The musical was first staged in 1947, on Broadway, and the film appeared in 1954. Allan J. Lerner was the main writer behind the work, along with Fritz Lowe. Brigadoon was a great success, and won the top prize for a stage production that year. Lerner used to say that it was from the works of Scottish writers, such as J. M. Barrie, that he got the idea for the story. Brigadoon had a great influence on the idea people had of Scotland, and on subsequent films such as Braveheart and Rob Roy.
