Summary
How the Boyds came to North Uist
According to tradition, the Boyds are descended from the MacDonalds. When the Boyds got rank, a dispute arose and they were driven away. A boat with three Boyds was shipwrecked near Haisgeir. That place is still called 'Sgeir nam Bòideach'. One of them, Calum, married in North Uist and had a son, Donald.
