Summary
An emigrant's song by Iain Mac Ailein, telling those at home about the gloomy forests of the new world and how the emigration agents were deceiving them about life in Canada. He is lonely and very sad about his circumstances; he complains about the harsh winters and that he is unable to converse in his own language.
The contributor tells that Iain Mac Ailein was popular with Glen Garry and that Iain Mac Ailein's brother, Donald, was also a poet. He relates that the people of the village were very pious, and that they were all Baptists.
