Summary
The strong tradition of poetry in Balephuil.
The contributor recalls the wealth of poets that lived in Balephuil, Tiree. In his opinion there were at least seventeen or eighteen The Baptist minister, Duncan MacDougall was a poet, as were his three sons and his daughter. The Balemartin bàrd [John MacLean] spent a good deal of time in Balephuil, particularly in the contributor's home. The contributor does not remember him though, as he was too young at the time. He himself has composed songs but he is reluctant to recite them.
