Summary

The Glencoe clansmen are preparing for battle with the yellow-haired laddie tall and brave in the vanguard. He is slain in the battle, the coronach [lament] is heard and the clansmen and women are plunged into mourning.

Willie Scott says he'll take his jacket off as he is sweating like a cadger's pony, a cadger being a travelling grocer.

Item Notes

7 verses. Verse 4 is sung again to correct an error. A longer version than Willie Scott normally sang. He found the words in an old book (c. 1850); the tune was one he heard whistled.
