Summary
This sailor's song describes a voyage. The verses sung tells how the ship passes Ailsa Craig, before sailing near Ireland. It is almost New Year, but the composer is unhappy. He is at the helm of his ship but thinking of his friends going to play shinty.

Five verses sung. Song ascribed to Captain Angus Lamont (b.1844) of Cornaigmore, Tiree. Some verses are very similar to verses in a song ascribed to James MacLean ('MacLean Bards' vol. 2).
