Willie Scott was allowed off school one day to show the late Sheriff Boyd of Jedburgh the place where Mary Queen of Scots' horse got bogged when she was on her way to visit Bothwell. Fifty years later Willie Scott came to that place to work as a shepherd, and was there for nine years.
