Summary
Tolsta fishing-boats of yesteryear.
There was a boat in Tolsta which should have been called the 'Bride of Tolsta', but due to a mistake at registration, she became known as the 'Pride of Tolsta'. She was built by MacLeod, the Ness boat-builder, and fished out from Tolsta alongside other boats. The contributor mentions some of these, along with the crew of the 'Pride of Tolsta'. This is followed by an anecdote about a fishing trip in which long-lines were set some six miles east of the Butt of Lewis. A great storm arose, and they were hard put to return home safely.
The contributor gleaned this story from Donald MacIver of the Big Hands.
