Summary

Death customs.

Fighting at funerals was very common in the contributor's father's youth. People would sell their only cow to buy whisky for the funeral. Prior to the funeral, a wake was held for three nights. The funeral procession walked to the cemetery, stopping on the way for refreshments of whisky, biscuits and cheese. A 'butler' was appointed to carry the keg. Cairns were built to mark the resting stations.
