The contributor tells how he got the many tales and songs in his repertoire. He got a lot of his tales when he was at sea with Gaelic speakers and also when he was in the war with Uist men. He names some of the people who were at sea with him and also local men who had trained with him in the Scouts and were with him in the war.
He also learned a number of songs which they sang when waulking and spinning. He names some great storytellers who lived in Grimsay in his young days.
