Summary

Information on the contributor's family and on clearances.

There are not many left of the contributor's family but Clann Iain mhic Aonghais. There are relatives, Clann Aonghais Raghnaill, in Gerinish. These families all have Clanranald names. They were all of Clanranald and had lands from the estate. There was at one time the Maor Mòr - a MacDonald - who was a factor for Lady Gordon-Cathcart. People thought that she was not a bad landowner. Her father, the Colonel, was not bad but the factors were, putting people off the land. They were local people themselves. There were clearances from Bornish and people did not get to harvest their potatoes. Some were sent to Manitoba and some to Eriskay.
