Summary - A song of unrequited love. A young couple in Kentangaval had become engaged. Shortly afterwards, the young man went on the seed-boat to Ireland to collect whisky for his wedding. They went to Newry where he attended a grand ball and met the daughter of a nobleman, whom he was persuaded to marry. Later in their relationship the wife insulted his upbringing, saying that he was from lowly stock and that his bad habits were a result of it. He left her but never returned to Barra. The wife came to Barra with the child. The girl he had left behind in Barra made this song about her situation.
