Summary
Johnston men and their build; naming Traveller children.
Betsy Whyte describes the typical build of men of the Johnston family. They tend to have slim hips, and people used to say they had nothing in the backside of their trousers. The first two children in a Traveller family are traditionally named after their grandparents, the first after the father's side and the second after the mother's. The next might be named after the howdie [unqualified midwife] or her husband.
