Summary
Outline of a story about a girl keeping her sick sister's sweetheart from her out of jealousy.
Betsy Whyte tries to recall a story that her mother used to tell. A girl was ill because her sweetheart hadn't come back to her. Her sister Anne told her every day that there was no sign of him, but was deceiving her, as she wanted the lad for herself. However, the lad did reach the girl in time.
Betsy's sister Alice tells the story to her children.
