This waulking song is a flyting between a bardess of MacNeil of Barra and a bardess of MacDonald of Clanranald. According to tradition, the Barra bardess was called Nic Iain Fhinn and her South Uist opponent was called Nic a' Mhanaich. In this version, the Uist bardess speaks first.
