Summary
Folk clubs in Edinburgh; singing more important than playing.
The pubs closed at ten o'clock and the audiences went on to parties where folk music continued. There was a folk club in a bookshop, Paperback, where a man, Jim [Haines?], known as Highland Jim, had a dog that was allowed to sit on any seat it liked. There was a club in St Andrew's Square in a cellar, and one called the Grail in George Street. The Waverley Bar had good singers. Archie Fisher sang there. The emphasis then was on singing rather than playing. The only instrumentalist of note was Bobby Campbell.
