Summary

Edinburgh folk clubs.

The Howff in Edinburgh, though it only existed as a folk club for a little more that a year, underwent a refit and became more plush. The first time Liz Cruickshank remembers singing in public was there, when she and her sister Maggie sang a song in harmony that they had been practising at home. They had always sung at parties, as children and as adults. The next time Liz sang in public was at the Crown with Bert Jansch. Then they sang every week in the Waverley. The sisters also sang in the Buffs club and in The Place.
