Summary

The excitement of the Folk Revival; the difficulties of running a folk club.

The Folk Song Revival was an exciting time, full of tremendous energy. The people Maggie Cruickshank works with have no interest in folk music. Some people have tired of folk music, e.g. Jockie Weatherston, who now [1986] only occasionally sings at festivals or ceilidhs. Running a folk club, as Maggie and Liz Cruickshank do, is complicated by committees and paperwork, though recently Maggie managed to book two French melodeon players without formality. Liz doesn't believe in professional folk singing, but without that only local people would be heard.
