Summary

Smuggling brandy from the Faroes; a shipwreck survivor.

A boat came into Roe Ness with drink for the wedding of a Tingwall man and the brandy was hidden in scroos [corn stacks]. Next day the men retrieved the brandy and landed it at Burwick. Peter Fraser heard this from his brother's father-in-law, who showed him where the brandy was landed at Roe Ness.

A smack skipper from Whiteness, who was being chased by the customs, sailed to his anchorage through hidden rocks, where he was met by women in small boats. By the time the cutter came up, the cargo from the Faroes had been taken off.

A shipwreck survivor who made it up the banks [cliffs] behind Foula claimed to have been blown up by the wind.
