The contributor remembers being told by Neil MacNeil of Vaul that, during the potato famine, his father would save the skins of boiled potatoes, take out the eyes and sell them in the spring. The contributor relates some biographical and genealogical details about the MacNeils and also the Campbells in Barrapoll. He tells of how people were cleared from Middleton when the kelp company came to Tiree.
