Summary - A Fingalian ballad. Both Maeve and her daughter were in love with Fraoch. Maeve became very jealous and decided to kill Fraoch. She feigned illness and asked Fraoch to bring her berries from a magic rowan tree, but she then asked him to go back to fetch a branch-full, pulled up from the roots. In an attempt to retrieve them he was attacked by a monster and mortally wounded, but not before he killed the monster with the knife given to him by Maeve's daughter.
