Summary
In this waulking song, a widow tells of the drowning of her husband, three brothers and father, which she seems to have witnessed, and of finding their bodies on the shore. She describes the death of Angus as particularly painful, and goes on to tell of putting him in a shroud and coffin, before setting off for Trianaid in North Uist. According to the text sung here, the accident happened on St. Bride's Day. [Other versions of the text say St. Michael's Day.]
