Summary

A lyric song in which the singer recalls happy days spent on Bogieside, but must bid his friends and sweetheart farewell as he prepares to leave his native Huntly.

Item Notes

Recorded at a Traditional Music and Song Association event. Sung to the tune of 'Bogie's Bonnie Belle' (Roud Folk Song Index no. 2155), probably owing to the similarity between the titles of the two songs.

Gavin Greig relates a communication citing John Riddel of Craigmill as the author of this piece; he is also said to have composed 'Jock o Rhynie' (Roud 2136).
