Summary

Customs and superstitions connected with death.

The contributor discusses customs and superstitions connected with death. Nobody worked while a funeral was taking place. Women did not attend burial. Whisky, biscuits and cheese were provided at the graveyard for the burial party. At one time, food and drink were left out for the dead. There were certain people that could see the already deceased relatives of the dead coming into the room to touch the body. The contributor tells [in Gaelic] of a local woman who discovered that a brother who had emigrated had died, when she saw his ghost touching the body of her sister.
