Item Notes - Recorded at the Royal National Mòd. Composed by Eliza Ross, who became Lady D'Oyly after marrying Sir Charles D'Oyly in India. She was orphaned at a young age and raised by MacLeod of Raasay, who sent her to Edinburgh to study music. She took a great interest in ceòl mòr (the classical music of the bagpipe), and later transcribed many pieces of ceòl mòr as she heard them being played by the family piper, John MacKay, who was father of the piper Angus MacKay.
