Summary - A sailor sings of his homesickness for Uist, which he has had to leave in order to get work. He is sailing from Glasgow to Buenos Aires along with others from Uist, and the Gaelic language is heard regularly on board. He would prefer to have remained as a shepherd on Uist than be sailing the high seas and hopes, if he survives the voyage, to go back to his home island.
