The first Martin in the Bealach searching for the purest water in the Western Isles.
The first Martin in the Bealach was a doctor (Dr Martin Martin). He travelled the length and breadth of the Western Isles, searching for the purest water, which he found in St Kilda. Another well which is near the Post Office in Uig, Skye, is close to the doctor's old house. This was the best water he found in Skye.
