Summary
Anecdotes about horsemen and the Horseman's Word; trick questions.
According to the contributor's father, a farmservant from Cushnie went to the crossroads and enlisted the assistance of the Devil in his work. There was a man, Nimmie, who was a great horseman and tamed a horse so well that he had it dancing. A man who was not a proper horseman, when asked what to do if the bridle would not come off, said cut off the horse's head. The contributor poses trick questions about the right end of the whip and mare's milk. He used to have a book about the Horseman's Word, but it got burnt. He himself was initiated at eighteen years of age.
