The Lewis fishermen prepared their boats in April. They fished for ling. There was a curing house on the beach. The curer gutted and dried the fish himself.

A description of the boats common in the contributor's youth. They went out on Monday and set their lines, baited with herring to catch eels near the shore. They then went deep-sea fishing, using eels as bait to catch ling and cod.

A description of the Ness skiff, the boat used by Bragar fishermen. The boats went out as far as 60 miles. There were six men on each boat. They fished from the beginning of May until the end of August. A brief discussion about fishermen's customs and taboos.
