Summary
Tragic song in which Willie refuses to marry the girl he has made pregnant, and advises her to go home and tell her parents. She fears disgrace, and decides she would rather kill herself by drowning. Willie discovers her body floating down the Clyde, and laments, saying he should have married her.
Elizabeth Stewart introduces the song with recollections of her Aunt Lucy.
